    Quality Controller

    Description

    • We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Quality Controller to join our team in Isithebe, Mandeni.
    • The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that products are manufactured, checked, packed, labelled, recorded and controlled according to job cards, specifications, master samples and customer requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Ensure products are produced according to job cards, specifications and approved master samples.
    • Conduct quality checks on plastic products, including size, appearance, gels, watermarks, waves, micron levels and colour of substrate.
    • Obtain product knowledge for new items from the Quality Team Leader before changeovers take place.
    • Ensure items, packs and boxes are packed and labelled according to customer requirements.
    • Verify that correct barcodes and box labels are used on the relevant products.
    • Ensure labels are applied neatly and boxes are palletised correctly where required.
    • Monitor machine waste build-up, record wastage and report unusually high waste levels to the Production Supervisor.
    • Isolate and clearly mark rejects as “On hold” or “Reject”.
    • Record isolated items on scrap tickets and report them in the report book.
    • Complete required checks and records on WIP sheets, final inspection sheets, report books and SEAMCOR.

    Requirements

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 or the equivalent.
    • Previous experience in a quality control, production or manufacturing plastics environment will be advantageous.
    • Good attention to detail and ability to identify product defects.
    • Ability to follow job cards, specifications and customer requirements accurately.
    • Basic administration and record-keeping skills.
    • Ability to communicate quality concerns clearly to supervisors and team members.
    • Reliable, proactive and able to work as part of a team.
