Quality Operations Analyst - Jacobs, Durban at Tiger Brands

THE JOB AT A GLANCE

You will be responsible for ensuring product quality in the manufacturing process.

RESPONSIBILITIES

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Adherence to specifications: (Process, finished foods and packaging) Custodian of manufacturing / process and finished product specifications. Drive sensory analysis, Ensure compliance to process / packaging and product specifications. Management of retention samples and end of shelf life.
• Handling of marketplace feedback: (Consumer, customer and incidents) Maintaining of marketplace feedback register. Lead investigation and develop lessons learnt. Ensure implementation and preventative action, Liaise with consumer services.
• Handling of non-conformances: Manager non-conformance process (Register, product status decision making). Facilitate problem solving and root cause analysis. Ensure implementation of corrective and preventative action.
• Drive continuous improvement: Analyze marketplace feedback on non-conformance data for trend to identify CI opportunities. Drive quality continuous improvement programs.
• Enable quality management system:  Ensure execution of HACCP. Participate in internal audit system. 
• Provide innovation support:  Participate in factory trials. Drive quality gate keeping in innovation.
• Implement and manage QMS: Document control. Record keeping. Corrective and preventative audits. 
• Implement and manage consumer safety management system: Drive the implementation of the Tiger core standards. Drive implementation of PRP’s. Driving the implementation of HACCP.
• Implement and maintain certification: Drive certification compliance. Liaise with certification bodies.
• Maintain quality related legal and customer requirements: Drive compliance
• Drive plant hygiene services: cleaning contracts. Garments. Canteen services, Sanitary services contract.
• Custodian of DMS quality module: Implement and maintain the DMS quality module (super users)
• Continuous improvement: Analyse internal and external audit findings for trends to identify CI opportunities. Drive quality continuous improvement programs.
• General: Develop and conduct training. Excellent communication skills. Presentation skills. Excellent planning, organization and execution skills. Delegate responsibilities, Results orientated, Effective employee relation skills. Ability to work under pressure. Integrity and credibility. Willing to deliver as per operational requirement. Be self-motivated and able to work without supervision. Monitor and comply with safety rules and regulations.

Key Professional Competencies

• Core knowledge – Quality systems

Key foundational competencies 

• Academic – Diploma in natural sciences (food technology, biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering or microbiology). TQM/Tech would be advantageous. Sound working knowledge of the MS Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Leadership – Owning it. Influencing others, thinking innovation, organization awareness, Holding people accountable

Experience

• Function - 3 years' experience in measurement and testing in QMS 
• Industry - FMCG with category knowledge, strong communication skills, familiarity with continuous improvement tools
