Quotes and Estimates Specialist, Air&Sea at DSV

Preparing, forwarding and clearing estimates for new and existing clients as well as internal clients on a daily basis. This role is a key supporting role for the Sales and CRM teams and the successful candidate must be prepared to work with the Sales and CRM team members in their efforts to reach their growth and revenue targets within their client portfolios. At times, this role will be pressurized, and the successful candidate must be prepared to work after-hours when required. In addition, this role will play a supporting role to the Rates Engineer and will assist in delivering revenue growth for the Port Elizabeth branch.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Decide on best routing option and mode of transport based on estimate requests
• Prepare the estimates in an accurate and timely manner
• Assistance to sales and servicing and continuous follow-up on the success of securing the business
• Keep running reports on:
• Existing customers with routine estimate requirements
• Existing customers with once off/comparison lane segments on the success of securing new business and reasons why we have lost business
• Existing customers with an extension business opportunity
• Preparation of accurate and timely estimates for internal and external clients
• Analysis of estimates to determine reasons for estimate requests
• Suggesting alternative solutions for clients who require high volumes for repetitive estimates
• Identification of new business and forwarding these leads on to the sales department
• Business analysis - checking clients current routes providing solutions for better lead time and costs for clients
• Assisting Account Managers with any reporting requirements if and when required
• Assisting the Rates Engineer with the issuing of rate profiles and the loading of rates on CW1
• Leading the role out of the Appian estimates tool within the branch
• Drive Auto-rating improvement targets within the estimates function
• Back up of the Rates Engineer

TERTIARY QUALIFICATION:

• Matric essential   

JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in generating estimates and/or invoicing in a freight forwarding environment
• Minimum of 3 to 4 years' experience working within the freight forwarding industry
• Ability to work overtime and must have own transport

Electives: 

• Cargo Wise 1 (CW1) experience
• Business Management Diploma
• Freight forwarding operational experience (controlling shipments)
