    Registered Nurse Theatre

    Job Summary:

    • To promote and deliver quality patient care and wellness in accordance with industry standards and to execute Nursing duties within the standards, procedures and protocols set down by the South African Nursing Council and Scope of Practice.
    • The incumbent will collaborate with Doctors, multidisciplinary team members and the community in providing holistic support to patients and their family and loved ones whilst supervising allocated team members, within a specialized unit.

    Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

    • Nursing degree/Diploma.
    • Current registration with the South African Nursing Council.
    • BLS qualification.
    • 3+ years' experience in Theatre .
    • Previous experience in a private hospital environment is advantageous.
    • Computer Literacy.

    Minimum Job Requirements:

    • Perform nursing duties in accordance with the South African Nursing Council (SANC), Department of Health (DOH) and National Core Standards.
    • Adhere to the principles and standards of patient advocacy according to the SANC Acts and Omissions, Company Code of Conduct, the patient rights and Responsibility charter, National Millennium Development goals and the responsibility of continuous professional development (CPD). Supervise, organise, lead, and control work for oneself and the team to ensure the efficient completion of tasks.
    • Actively participate in internal and external auditing processes, such as those conducted by the DOH, National Core Standards, SHERQ, SANC, and Risk Audit.
    • Participate in training and staff development of operating theatre personnel.
    • Document patient care services by accurately charting inpatient and department records, including updating care plans as patient needs change.
    • Monitor the activities of nurses to ensure compliance with protocols, the security and safety of the patient environment, Group Nursing policies and procedures, and SANC requirements, as determined through regular unit rounds.
    • Management of stock and equipment utilised in theatre.
    • Preparing for theatre cases according to the doctor's preference.
    • Carry out a basic assessment of patient vital signs, intake, and output, and accurately monitor and record data relating to the patient's condition. Escalate any issues to the Unit Manager.
