    Regulatory Affairs Specialist - FTC

    Responsibilities

    What we’re looking for:

    Regulatory Affairs contractor for SA/WECA, providing regulatory affairs expertise to support the rollout of the global CAST (Complete Accurate Specifications Traceability) project in the region, either by directly involvement, or providing support to the existing RA team to enable them to focus on the delivery of the CAST project. This role will help ensure compliance with food and packaging regulations in SA/WECA region. The Regulatory function operates as a key partner in a fast paced and continually evolving internal business and a challenging external regulatory environment. The Regulatory Affairs Contractor role will work closely with the broader Regulatory Affairs to ensure regulatory standards are in place. Will work closely with other Regulatory Managers, key stakeholders in other PepsiCo markets and local R&D teams.

    Compliance

    Support the RA team to ensure ongoing compliance with all aspects of food and beverage legislation in relation to manufacture, composition, labelling and advertising, packaging and food contact materials for the range of PepsiCo products manufactured or sold in South Africa and export countries. Accountabilities include:

    • Review of product design, composition, packaging and labelling requirements
    • Interpretational guidance on claims and positioning
    • Review of advertising and promotion governed by food legislation
    • Support import and export initiatives.

    CAST

    Support Regional SMME to deliver:

    • Validation of regulatory rule mapping
    • Validation of legacy label documents
    • Support to Regional SME with specific expertise as needed
    • Complete E-learning, Webinars, Day-to-Day usage in SAP System

    Specification Management

    • Provide RA support during the review and sign-off of various specifications (ingredients/packaging/final product), with special focus on the roadmap to get SA/WECA specifications CAST-ready

    Qualifications

    What will qualify you for the role:

    • Science Degree. Food Science or related discipline will be an advantage.
    • Excellent command of English (must be able to read, understand and apply regulations and use nuanced language for product claims)
    • Detailed knowledge of South African food and beverage regulations, particularly areas relating to ingredients, final product, contaminants, packaging/food contact materials, labelling and manufacture.
    • Knowledge of other African regulations will be an advantage.
    • A track record of 3-5 yrs in interpreting and applying food and/or beverage regulatory requirements in a commercial setting
