Job Purpose

• The Reinsurance Treaty Accountant will support both the Treaty Placement and Reinsurance Finance teams.

Key Responsibility: Treaty Technical Accounts

• Preparation of quarterly treaty technical accounts;
• Profit commissions & Sliding Scale calculations
• Excess of loss adjustment premium
• Updating of stats
• Balance sheet recons
• Inwards reinsurance

Key Responsibility: Cross-functional collaboration

• Collaborate internally with COE’s, Branches, Finance, Corporate Actuarial and HINT, to ensure accurate and timeous provision of treaty information.

Key Responsibility: Stakeholder engagement

• Support engagement efforts with external stakeholders, including Reinsurers, Reinsurance Brokers;

General Responsibilities:

• When required, perform any other duties necessary for the operational effectiveness of the Product Management team that is within your ability and scope.
• Support for Project Athena

Required Knowledge and Experience    
Required Experience

• Minimum of 10 years short term technical treaty accounting experience;
• Minimum of 5 years short term Financial accounting experience

Knowledge:

Reinsurance Technical Accounting: Advanced understanding of :

• Technical Accounts for both proportional and non-proportional treaty reinsurance
• Standard Treaty contract terms and conditions

Skills :

• Communication: Clear verbal and written communication

Educational Requirements    
Required Qualifications

• Matric/Senior Certificate
• Undergraduate qualification in Business, Computer Science, or a related field (preferred but not required)
