    Research Administrator 4.05

    Minimum Requirements:

    • A Bachelor’s degree
    • An Honours degree would be an added advantage
    • At least two years’ relevant experience, with some higher education experience (e.g. executive assistant or project administrator) and/or externally-funded grant management experience
    • Good computer skills and experience setting up online meetings (Zoom/MS-Teams)
    • Knowledge and understanding of the higher education sector is required

    Duties amongst others include:

    • Coordinate standing meetings of the CoE (Steering Committee, Scientific Advisory Committee, Annual Focus Area Coordinators Forum and others) as required
    • Arranging travel, accommodation, campus access for the Visiting Researchers to the CoE; arranging timeous payments of financial support to such visitors
    • Deal with Student/Fellow queries surrounding CoE Bursaries and Fellowships, and /University stakeholder queries re Research Grants
    • Responsible for general administration of the CoE-MaSS
    • Responsible for capturing, submitting, and storing annual Nomination Forms to the NRF for approval
    • Assimilating data from various sources and collating Annual progress reports to external funders and internal reporting
    • Ensure that researchers/students meet their deadlines i.t.o submission of information to the Centre for grant reporting to the NRF
    • Perform other tasks or activities which fall within the general functioning of the CoE as determined by the Manager and/or Director of the CoE to further the aims of the Centre

    Key Competencies:

    • Strong interpersonal skills and good communication skills, to work across varied stakeholders (e.g. postgrad students, postdoc fellows, early-career to established researchers, government, industry partners, funders/donors, etc)
    • High-level computer literacy skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook)
    • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
