Contribute towards the development and improvement of products
Prepare and maintain cell and bacterial cultures for use in experiments and tests for Research & Development, Quality Control and Production Departments
Provide technical support on the development of new and improved products
Assist researchers to perform routine assays and serological tests when requested Perform all required administrative duties in line with relevant regulations
Prepare reagents, medium and materials for cell, virus and bacterial techniques
Order and collect gas cylinders from Stores after checking the level on the cylinder gauge Order and collect medium, serum and other reagents or consumables from the Stores and Raw Materials division
Maintain a sterile and clean working area for laboratories in general
Continuously maintain production equipment efficiencies
Provide support on all projects within Research and Development
Provide support to core business functions
Provide relevant support services to other business units as per operational requirements (cells and research reagents are available).
Assist the researchers with basic laboratory protocols as required Comply with all applicable quality standards (ISO and GLP/GMP/GCP requirements and the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Company Regulations)
Assist with the maintenance of ISO and GLP/GMP standards
Observe and comply with the OH&S Regulations
Contribute towards the mitigation of the department’s risk profile by implementing sound governance and compliance processes and tools to identify and manage risks
Assist in monitoring relevant changes in the regulatory environment and ensure that appropriate operational controls are implemented to address new requirements within scope of control
Adhere to all occupational safety requirements and regulations at all times
Set an example for other OBP staff by living the values of OBP every day
Support and provide evidence to all internal and external audit requirements where needed Adhere to all relevant laws, policies and Standard Operating Procedures within scope of control.
Minimum requirements
Diploma in Biological and Veterinary Sciences (NQF 6)
2 years’ experience in a bacterial and cell culture laboratory.
