    Research Assistant

    Main purpose of the job: 

    • To conduct outcome assessments and interviews with women (their partners), and anthropometric measurements on their infants.
    • Location:
    • Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Conduct outcome assessments with women and their partners
    • Conduct assessments and measurements for infants
    • Schedule and follow-up on participant appointments
    • Manage scheduled appointments and visits in accordance with the study protocol
    • Maintain accurate and up to date study records
    • Assist with data collection capture and management
    • Compile relevant reports and feedback on project activities
    • Take ownership and accountability and demonstrate effective self-management
    • Ensure quality of data collected is of the highest standard
    • Fieldwork (including but not limited to tracing participants)
    • Administration (including but not limited to petty cash, filing, reporting, and equipment calibration)
    • Ensure referral of participants to the relevant clinical services, where needed, in accordance with the study protocol
    • Report to study co-ordinator and principal investigator
    • Other activities related to data collection and management

    Requirements:

    • Degree or tertiary qualification is preferable, but not essential, minimum of matric is however required
    • GCP and Research Ethics certification are required
    • Fluency in at least two local languages including English
    • High levels of computer literacy and advanced use of MS Office, experience using REDCap will be an added advantage
    • A valid driver’s license (24 months) is required
    • Experience working with children and families, preferably in a health and research environment
    • Candidates with experience conducting clinical assessments including anthropometry are desirable
    • Immediate availability

     (Part-Time – 25 hours/week)
