Research Engineering Intern: Artificial Intelligence at IBM

Through this internship position, the successful candidate will be part a global cohort of interns who will join IBM Research at various global locations for the 2022 “summer internships” – i.e., over the US summer/SA winter. The candidate will gain insights into real industry challenges and obtain hands-on research and engineering experience, while working alongside some of IBM’s leading researchers, scientists, designers and engineers.

Your Role and Responsibilities
We are seeking an outstanding software engineer to support ongoing AI research through data science and software engineering to drive both theoretical and practical advances in AI. Specific responsibilities include:

• Research and engineering in the field of artificial intelligence (Neuro-Symbolic AI).

• Collaboration with researchers and developers across IBM’s global teams in research and engineering projects.

• Participation in IBM global internship training and networking activities.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
• Must be a registered student in 2022.
• Honours or Master’s degree (or ongoing) in Computer Science, Data Science, or related fields with training in mathematics and programming.
• Hands-on proficiency in machine learning.
• Excellent software development in C++, Java , Python, R or related programming languages.
