    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • The purpose of the research internships (starting in 2024) is to assist with the production of research outputs that correspond with Nelson Mandela University’s Institutional Research Themes, in particular one or more of the following: ‘Social Justice and Democracy’, ‘Innovation and the Digital Economy’ and ‘Origins, Culture, Heritage and Memory’. Preference will be given to applications in the broad research focus areas of populism, nationalism and neoliberalism in relation to democracy and social categories of difference; international relations and comparative politics, identity politics, elections and political parties, Higher Education and traditional leadership.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • Research and write a treatise/thesis/dissertation as per university requirements
    • Assist with and present seminar(s) based on research
    • Provide research assistance to the principal researchers
    • Participate in intellectual exchange and other CANRAD activities
    • Produce one accredited peer-reviewed publication output based on the degree research (Doctoral)

    • Self-motivated

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Outstanding academic track record
    • Provisional acceptance into a Master’s/Doctoral programme in an academic department at Mandela University by December
