Research Nurse (Contract) at University of Cape Town

Requirements:

• Advanced Diploma or Degree in General nursing (NQF 7 Qualification)
• Registered Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC)
• 1 year post qualification experience in a hospital or clinic (nursing care)
• At least 2 years of clinical research experience
• Proficiency in phlebotomy, vital signs assessments and performing ECG
• Current GCP certification
• Basic computer skills including word processing and emailing
• Excellent time management
• Valid driver’s licence with 1 year driving experience
• Verbal and written fluency in isiXhosa or Afrikaans
• Current Work Permit for South Africa (if non-South African)

Advantageous:

• Experience in TB/HIV research
• Clinical trials experience

Responsibilities:

• Participant recruitment and retention according to the protocols and GCP standards
• Clinical procedures such as vital signs and phlebotomy and collection of any other required samples With training, perform spirometry
• Assist with collection of research data, quality checks and capturing according to the SOPs and GCP
• Assist with creating and maintaining SOPs
• Communicate with laboratory, pharmacy and PET/CT centers
• Assist with clinic stock control and maintenance of clinic equipment
• Driving duties pertaining to samples, study drugs and participants
