Research Techinician: Plant Improvement (Biotechnology) (Nelspruit)
Initiate, manage and contribute towards research projects.
Assist in coordinating work activities and supervises allocated resources, if applicable.
Adhere to financial administrative controls.
Plan own work activities.
Utilise and maintain facilities, material and equipment.
Collect, capture and process data with basic analysis.
Provide verbal and written reports on work activities and results.
Comply with all occupational health and safety regulations.
Assist in the preparation of scientific presentations.
Assist in optimising use of specialised equipment and/or processes and/or systems.
Publish semi-scientific and peer reviewed reports/articles.
Assist with the training of junior staff.
Assist with technology transfer.
Requirements
BSc Degree or BTech in Molecular Biology/Biotechnology or Degree in Natural/Life/Biological Sciences/Microbiology with specialisation in Molecular Biology.
Minimum of 2 years applicable experience in research support in molecular biology applications.
Knowledge of DNA molecular marker technology (molecular detection techniques, DNA extraction, PCR and capillary electrophoresis).
Knowledge of DNA/RNA sequencing technologies.
Ability to liaise with Researcher on project progress and participation.
Ability to work independently and in a team.
Good communication (verbal and written) skills.
Valid driver's license with proven driving experience.
