Research Technician - Entomology (Two (2) Years Fixed Term Contract) (Roodeplaat)

Description
- Prepare and process biological samples for molecular analyses.
- Ensure proper documentation, labelling, and safe handling of specimens and reagents in accordance with laboratory standards.
- Assist with curatorial tasks for insect collection.
- Conduct preliminary sorting specimens into taxonomic units.
- Assist with field sampling trips, including trap setting, monitoring, and specimen collection.
- Provide support during training sessions, outreach activities, and exhibitions related insects.
- Ensure compliance with GRAP 103 and standards of the Natural Science Collection Facility (NSCF).
Requirements
- National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Entomology or a related field.
- At least 2 years relevant work experience, including insect data collection, processing, and capturing.
- Experience in report writing and presentations.
- Proficiency in English.
- A valid driver’s license is an added advantage.
