Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic professional who is interested in pursuing a career in investigations to join our expanding investigations team. The role will involve working on investigative assignments, including forensic accounting, and providing pro-active fraud and risk management support to clients in the region. This role would be suitable for candidates currently working within the audit and accounting team or fraud investigations or forensic services in a consulting organization or well-established inhouse fraud investigations teams.
The successful candidate will be involved in the following priority areas:
The successful delivery of various types of investigations including financial investigations
Conducting risk assessments with a focus on financial and operational issues and non-compliances with applicable standards
Identification of risks and the development of implementation plans to mitigate these risks
Work with other members within IFA and the wider CFI practice to deliver on various engagements across Africa and the wider EMEA region
Drafting proposals and reports for management review
Forensic and accounting technical research
Structured review of data as part of an investigation
Essential
Zero to two years professional forensic accounting and investigations experience in any jurisdiction (Africa experience preferred)
Understanding of a company’s financial operations and able to interpret all aspects of financial statements
Track record of the successful delivery of assignments
Strong background – academic or professional in auditing and accounting
Strong communication and presentation skills
Ability to work in a team and independently
Preferred
Current or prior experience of working in the Africa region
Big 4 or Mid–Tier accounting/law/advisory firm
Knowledge of PFMA, MFMA, FCPA and UKBA is a bonus
French or Portuguese language is a bonus
Requirements
The following qualifications are relevant to the role and would be an advantage
Forensic accounting degree, Accounting/Finance degree
Internationally/locally recognized accounting or investigation qualification (CA(SA), ACA, ACCA, CPA, CFE, FP)
Competencies:
An understanding and application of investigative techniques and risk management
Track record of deploying analytical techniques to solve client problems
Strong written and oral communication
Well-developed interpersonal skills
