• Plan and undertake research on biosystematics of agriculturally important nematode pests in support of biosecurity in the agricultural sector.
• Develop diagnostic tools.
• Management of research technicians.
• Expand national reference collections, in particular the National Collection of Nematodes.
• Compile and manage research budgets.
• Actively source new research opportunities and write proposals for funding.
• Disseminate research results as scientific peer reviewed publications, congress presentations, popular articles and client reports.
• Mentor post graduate students.

Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Nematology.
• Three (3) years relevant experience in Nematology.
• SACNASP registration and/or NRF rating.
• Substantial record of relevant scientific publications.
• Track record of obtaining research funding.
• Valid Code B & EB driver’s license.
