Risk and Compliance Analyst at Hollard Insurance

The Risk and Compliance Analyst will facilitate the implementation and management of a sound enterprise risk management and compliance capability for Hollard Group Risk. To provide support to an effective risk governance framework that protects and creates value for key stakeholders, including policyholders and supports the achievement of Hollard Group Risk’s strategy and objectives. Be the champion of all regulatory, governance and compliance matters for Hollard Group Risk in a first line role to assist management in its responsibility to comply with all relevant legislative requirements, business policies, industry frameworks and charters, in order to eliminate or minimise compliance risks. 

KEY OUTPUTS:

The role is multi-disciplinary with the following key deliverables:

• Analysing trends and performing root cause analyses on identified risk events to recommend improvements to prevent these risk events from re-occurring in future.
• Ensuring that the group risk management framework, policies and strategy is understood and implemented at a business unit level
• Ensuring risk identification, control and reporting processes are aligned with the group risk management methodology and requirements
• Creating the culture of risk awareness
• Identifying areas of significant Operational Risk
• Assist and guide the business in the development of Operational Key Risk and lead indicators
• Monitor the implementation of action plans mitigating processes to address key risk indicators reported monthly to Risk Management
• Ensuring that the business units’ Risk Profiles are up-to-date and relevant
• Facilitating and conducting risk control self-assessments (RCSA) of various areas of business units
• Monitoring operational related Internal and External Audit findings
• Performing Operational Risk Management reviews
• Maintaining the Operational Loss Risk register
• Assisting with the preparation of risk reports for submission to the risk management committee, Audit and Risk Board Subcommittees
• Attending relevant Project meetings in order to assist in identifying, capturing, evaluating and reporting on risks
• Attending Operational meetings, where applicable
• Building and maintaining relationships with key internal business stakeholders
• Managing own development to increase own competencies
• Planning, scoping and managing compliance reviews as part of a Combined Model of Assurance,
• Documenting Compliance Risk Management Plans (CRMPs)
• Conduct/ coordinate compliance training initiatives
• Tracking and facilitating the resolution of compliance related findings and risks raised
• Coordinating and facilitating information requests from Regulators and Group functions on compliance matters

Required Knowledge and Experience    

• 3 – 5 years’ experience in Enterprise Risk Management with the main focus being on operational risk, IT risk and business resilience risk.
• At least 5 years compliance experience in Insurance and FAIS, AML experience would be advantageous

Educational Requirements    

• Diploma/ Degree in Risk Management
• Law degree, post graduate diploma in compliance will be advantageous
