Road Plant Operator at eThekwini Municipality

Job Purpose    

• Performs tasks/ activities associated with the transportation of material/ equipment and personnel to/ from work sites and operation of heavy mechanical plant and/ or specialised vehicles during roads and stormwater maintenance activities. 

Key Responsibility Areas    

• Performs specific tasks/activities at the Depot and worksite prior to and on completion of allocated maintenance assignments.
• Communicates with the immediate Superior and establish details of the task.
• Completes internal transactional documentation and related forms.
• Performs specific tasks associated with the operation of heavy specialised mechanical plant and vehicles during road and storm water drainage maintenance activities.
• Controls the utilization of materials and discharging/ offloading required quantities of  materials for repair or reconstruction work.

Essential Requirements    

• Appropriate level of secondary education.
• Valid certification of competency in the operation of heavy plant.
• Valid motor vehicle driving license (Code C1).
• Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
• 2 Years relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements    

• Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
• 3 years relevant experience
