Job Advert Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Sales Manager to plan, organise and control, according to laid down sales policy, the sales activities of the sales representatives in the area under his control. To develop marketing and tactical plans to grow the revenue in the business unit by identifying new and existing business opportunities that result in more sales revenue for the business unit. Minimum Requirements
- Bcom in Logistics management/ Sales management or Advanced Diploma/NQF Level 7
- At least 5 years’ experience in transport logistic
- Knowledge of the petroleum transport industry and operations
- Ability to analyze and evaluate market trends and customer logistics data
- Excellent relationship skills
- Innovative and lateral thinking
- Hands on management style
- Must be a self-starter
- Strong negotiation skills and sales skills
- A good listener
- Team player and ability to work in a dynamic team environment
Duties & Responsibilities
Financial Control
- Analyse client operational financial information
- Compile quotes to customers to secure revenue
- Compile business cases for outsourcing of fleets
- Prepare transport costings and rate cards
- Ensure financial administrative work to open new client accounts
Manage and control revenue: Costs and profit
- Achievement of expected revenue growth targets
- Identifying cost-saving opportunities at clients that result in more business for Unitrans
- Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to (Internal)
Secure future business growth
- Revenue growth for existing and new clients
- Identify new opportunities and innovative solutions
- Identify potential strategic alliances/ventures in the market whilst building client relationships
- Secure new markets/customers, particularly in respect of logistic support and backward integration into customers
- Survey markets and competitor activity and keep abreast of competition and market trends
- Maintain a healthy sales pipeline of business opportunities
- Create long term contractual opportunities were possible and through relationships
- Visit clients on a regular basis to build up sound relationships
- Ensure sales targets are achieved and exceeded
- Develop and implement weekly call cycles
- Ensure existing customer base is maintained
- Ensure profit margins are met and exceeded on work won
Develop new ways of providing service (Innovation)
- Provide solutions to customer needs (logistics) inward and outward bound
- management and building business cases for the achievement thereof
- Application of technical advancements in vehicles to sell new business
Implement and manage new projects
- Work closely with operations to match sales targets with truck capacities
- Ongoing reporting on projects and volumes
Maintain key, new and existing customer relationship
- Ensure and maintain ongoing operational relationships with internal and external customers
- Build ongoing customer relationships to secure new business
- Seek ways to add value to customers supply chains
- Liaise with operations and support service levels
- Understand customers business requirement
