Job Description

• We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially minded SANRAL-certified Bridge Engineer to take a senior technical leadership role within a multidisciplinary consulting engineering environment. The successful candidate will lead bridge design, inspections, rehabilitation projects, and support strategic growth through client engagement and business development initiatives.
• This role is suited to an individual who is not only technically strong but also interested in long-term leadership and potential equity participation within the business.

 Requirements

• BEng / BSc Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• Professional Engineer registration (Pr Eng preferred)
• SANRAL accreditation or proven experience with SANRAL bridge projects
• Strong structural and bridge engineering background
• Extensive experience in bridge engineering design and delivery
• Exposure to SANRAL projects and national infrastructure programmes

Experience in:

• Bridge design (road, rail, pedestrian)
• Culverts and retaining structures
• Bridge inspections and rehabilitation
• Infrastructure upgrades and strengthening works
• Strong understanding of South African bridge design codes and standards
• Proven ability to manage technical teams and deliver complex projects
• Client-facing and business development experience advantageous

Key Responsibilities

Bridge Design & Engineering

• Lead and review design of road, rail, and pedestrian bridges
• Develop solutions for culverts, retaining structures, and infrastructure upgrades
• Ensure compliance with SANRAL and national design standards

Inspections & Rehabilitation

• Conduct bridge inspections, assessments, and condition reporting
• Oversee rehabilitation, strengthening, and upgrading of existing structures
• Perform SANRAL-compliant visual inspections and reporting

Project Delivery

• Manage technical delivery across multiple infrastructure projects
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders
• Ensure quality, safety, and compliance across all deliverables

Business Development

• Support client engagement and relationship management
• Contribute to securing new infrastructure and bridge engineering work
• Assist in proposal development and technical submissions

Leadership & Strategy

• Provide technical leadership within the bridge engineering division
• Mentor junior engineers and technical staff
• Contribute to long-term business growth
