Job Description
The role of an Estimating Manager will be to align the direction and strategy for sector led estimating requirements in line with the UK Infrastructure Estimating business; to develop a sustainable portfolio of commissions for existing and new clients within the designated sector and work with the Regional Estimating Managers to effectively deliver outputs to a high level of Service Excellence.
RESPONSIBILITY
As the Estimating Manager you will be responsible for:
- Provide strategic advice to internal and external clients for Estimating and Cost Planning issues
-Creation of a workload pipeline identifying opportunities that tie into the Infrastructure Business Plan and Sector Service Level Agreements
- Liaison with our recruitment team and other estimating teams to effectively manage resources to enable delivery of workload in a timely and efficient manner
- Control and manage the estimating process in line with the Turner & Townsend processes, developing improved processes where directed
- Validation of estimates produced by the Managers team and contribute to peer reviews for major schemes
- Production of accurate and comprehensive estimates for large or complex projects or programmes in a timely and efficient manner.
- Staying abreast of developments within own technical area of expertise to be able to give best practice advice in line with business objectives
- Work to improve the Brand and reputation of the Estimating Function and Turner & Townsend
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE:
Essential
- Qualified to professional standard in Estimating or Quantity Surveying with membership of an appropriate professional body and/or educated to degree level.
- Relevant successful experience of provision of estimating and/or QS services in an infrastructure or construction environment to high profile or complex major projects or programmes.
- Knowledge of project management, planning, risk and investment processes.
- Strong technical cost management or estimating competency is essential as is a commercial awareness of financial, commercial and business needs outside of basic estimating.
- Must have knowledge in the use and benefits of cost management systems.
Desirable
- Demonstrable experience in managing and leading large teams and successful setting and implementation of business strategy
- Preferred degree in quantity surveying or associated construction field.
- Knowledge or use of BIM related estimating tools, processes and behaviours.
