Work Output Description
The role of a Security Specialist is to primarily guide and manage the security functions within the organisation. The Security Specialist is the first line of escalation from the customer (user). The Security Specialist will interact with various departments and levels and listen to their technical needs and implement IT security solutions/resolutions in conjunction with the IT Technicians, Network Specialist and Server Team in line with security best practice. This role relies heavily on the desktop support team, network and server teams. This role will also interact closely with and backup the Network Specialist.

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 with Mathematics
• National Diploma (NQF 6) in Information Technology or equivalent
• ITIL Foundations Certification
• CCNA or equivalent industry certification
• 10 years proven experience in IT support (desktop, server and or network)
• 5 years proven experience in IT Network support – LAN/WLAN/WAN, switching, routing, and cabling
• 3 years experience in 1st Line Network Support

Advantageous

• Security Industry Certification
• 3 years experience in Security Support
• 3 years experience in Server Support

Skills and Knowledge

• Proven knowledge of security/networking devices, technologies and the ability to configure, implement and support networks
• Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
• Ability to self-manage and self-develop
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to articulate well, strong communication skills
• Methodical
• Seeing things through to competition, taking ownership

Physical/Legal Requirements

• Clear Credit / Criminal Record
• Valid Driver’s License
• Obtain Medical fitness certificate
• Own Vehicle
