    Senior Accountant

    Minimum Qualifications / Experience / Competencies

    • A relevant Batchelor’s degree is required with SAIPA or CIMA articles preferred.
    • Advanced skills in Excel with working knowledge of AccPack and SAGE.
    • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Transport/Logistics industry.
    • Must be proficient in English and Afrikaans.
    • Ability to work under pressure and independently without close supervision.
    • Ability to plan, organize and control priorities with good administrative and communication skills.
    • Will prefer a candidate with knowledge of applicable Legislation as it applies to the Transport/Logistics industry.
    • Good working knowledge of tax laws in SA.
    • Strong knowledge of standards, policies, procedures and general knowledge of accounting and auditing skills.
    • Strong ability to supervise and train employees, including organizing and scheduling of work assignments and keeping a team engaged.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Preparation and submission of monthly management accounts.
    • Balance sheet account reconciliations.
    • Maintenance of general ledger accounts.
    • Month end checks:
      • Creditor reconciliations
      • Debtors’ reconciliations
      • Depreciation entries
      • Acquisition entries
      • Income tax entries
      • Deferred tax entries
      • VAT calculations
      • Bank reconciliations
    • Manage creditor department.
    • Manage debtor department.
    • Communicate to suppliers and clients to resolve any issues on accounts.
    • Credit notes approval.
    • Weekly payments with supporting documentation.
    • Truck reporting (profit and loss).
    • Ability to identify weaknesses in the business (diesel consumption etc.).
    • Assist with internal and external audits when required.
    • Knowledge of BBBEE.
    • Daily reporting on profit and loss.
    • Expense provisions.
    • Understand the process of workflow (purchase orders, receipting, invoicing, payments, matching of documents, reconciliation).
    • Cashflow forecast.
    • Monthly provisions.
    • Monthly journals.
    • Staff management – training/development, management of performance, etc.
