Senior Actuarial Specialist (Commercial Pricing) at Hollard Insurance

Role Objectives

This role will provide wide exposure across the range of pricing and portfolio management activities together with variety in work through interactions across the business. The role will support the fun and dynamic Pricing team with their pricing, monitoring and analytical functions. The product portfolio within Hollard Insure spans across personal, commercial and niche products giving the successful applicant exposure to a wide variety of products – an ideal opportunity to widen horizons.

Key Responsibilities

Pricing & Portfolio Monitoring

• Assist with the design and pricing of products in line with the product development control This includes modelling, implementing, testing and monitoring of rates and discounts.
• Support the structuring and pricing of both inward and outward reinsurance
• Build tools and drive the adoption of these to support the pricing
• Support portfolio management by identifying poor performing segments and suggested remedial
• Co-ordinate the timeous provision of consolidated monthly and quarterly portfolio
• Providing guidance and direction to the data acquisition team to ensure they acquire the data for the pricing function.
• Liaise with Corporate Actuarial teams to optimise the cost of capital which needs to be allowed for in pricing.

Relationship & Stakeholder Management

• Establish and maintain relationships with Hollard Insure stakeholders – key stakeholders include Distribution, Underwriting, Risk Management, Reinsurance, IT and Data
• Support Distribution teams on portfolio reviews and product development.

Lead delivery of IT related projects in the Risk & Underwriting

• Risk Management & Governance
• Provide support across the Risk and Underwriting function on analytical projects promoting underwriting
• Manage pricing processes in line with the Pricing

Required Knowledge and Experience

• Minimum of 3 to 7 years’ short term insurance
• Short-term technical pricing experience would be an advantage but strong technical candidates without pricing specific experience will be considered.
• SAM knowledge & Reinsurance experience is advantageous but not
• Statistical software experience would be an advantage – R, Python, Emblem
• Data manipulation – SQL, SAS, Advanced Microsoft
• Experience in supervising technical staff on projects is advantageous but not
