    Senior Artisan (Engineering)

    Requirements

    • Diesel Mechanic Trade Certificate
    • 3-5 years post Trade Test experience
    • Code C or EC driver’s license.
    • Computer literacy
    • Willingness to work overtime and outside normal working hours when required.
    • Willingness to work in all weather conditions.

    Key Performance Areas

    • Co-ordinates activities with specific functional areas i.e. vehicle maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting & fault finding
    • Carrying out repairs by stripping, cleaning, overhauling, replacing and assembling components (e.g. brake and clutch overhauls, gearboxes, engines and any other related mechanical repairs)
    • Testing vehicle systems, components and isolating faults
    • Diagnosing systems and identifying incipient and latent defects on components by visual inspection, performing functional tests, (including road testing) and investigation procedures
    • Checking the functionality of replacement components and executing the necessary adjustment and setting sequences
    • Interprets a co-ordinate specific pre-work requirements with regards to repair, planned and predictive maintenance sequences and guides the activities of personnel including apprentices
    • Interacting with stores and checking allocated components and materials against job cards prior to commencing with the job
    • Completes internal transactional documentation timeously.
    • Report writing on diagnoses and failed components and proving root cause analysis for failures with recommended corrective measures
    • Train and supervise apprentices.
    • Review damage reports, prepare or review repair costs estimates.
    • Communicating with the immediate supervisor and establish material and resources necessary against specific work orders.
    • Attending to deviations in performance or disciplinary/conflict - issues.
    • Adhering/ensuring compliance with all health and safety policies and procedures
