Key Deliverables

Solutions Delivery/Strategy Planning

The Senior Consultant: Analytical Solutions will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

• Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for the setting up of analytical frameworks, solutions and platforms to strategically support MTNs transformation to a digital operator
• Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Analytical Platforms and Services by developing and driving the strategic plan for the function ensuring alignment to Technology’s overall strategic goals as well as MTN Groups annual goals and objectives.
• Provide leadership and guidance to the BI and Analytics management team in the achievement of set annual goals.
• Oversee the design and implementation of Analytical platforms, Analytical solutions and AI / Machine learning Models & frameworks.
• Oversee development and selection of vendors and models to support the business initiatives.
• Oversee development of Commercial analysis Models, reports, Dashboards, tools.
• Manage MTN’s analytical applications portfolio, product catalogue, ensuring continuous alignment to MTN business and agile adaptation to new requirements deriving from the change and/or increase of business offerings.
• Drive the standardization of the Analytical capabilities and solutions across the Group, driving efficiency and service delivery as per the defined MTN standards.
• Manage the vendor selection process, to ensure quality, standardization and service delivery across all the Opcos.
• Drive excellence and innovation, by keeping abreast of new trends and technology and by incorporating these in the architecture roadmap, enhancing and promoting high quality of services delivery.
• Provide innovative thought leadership as to ensure the delivery of Analytical capabilities & solutions for the MTN business.
• Provide input into the group-wide delivery of infrastructure solutions that underlie the analytical platforms application portfolio.
• Assess needs and execute IT CAPEX and OPEX budgets in the delivery of BI and Analytical services.
• Ensure the implementation and rollout of the MTN Group Analytical and Data platform that provide services to the Group, OpCo and external parties, driving efficiency and service quality.

• Delivered architecture for analytical solutions and services as per agreed internal SLA’s
• Effective analytical capabilities and solutions portfolio management allowing MTN to remain ahead of the competition.
• Improved service delivery through diligent tracking of KPIs and SLAs
• Effective relationship with vendors, ensuring quality and standardization of services and infrastructure delivered.
• Improved operations and speed to respond through standardised and a common operating model.
• Increased differentiation by improving quality and service levels.
• Driving centralised release management of global analytical capabilities and services.

Profitable Growth

• Oversee cost structure for Technology ICT services team in order to achieve profitable revenue targets
• Monitor and act on signals of stakeholders to ensure continued adherence to agreed outcomes
• Convert proposed solutions into sales through high quality solution documentation, presentations, client engagements
• Build inventory at the right cost structure for Technology ICT service team in order to achieve profitable revenue targets

Governance and Risk Management

• Strictly follow and ensure team compliance of relevant policies and procedures
• Ensure effective SLA strategies are in place to support the business
• Implement proper controls and processes to minimise revenue leakage
• Ensure proper project controls are in place to manage financial and operational risks across the business

Role Dependencies:

• Active support from the Group CTIO, Group CIO and OPCO EBU & CTIO areas.
• Deep understanding of the MTN business strategy
• Alignment with industry partners to effectively integrate new digital analytics services
• Understanding of the OpCo technology, business and regulatory context
• Timely decision making and reporting
• Direct engagement with Group BICC, Group Functions and OPCO Technology & BICC teams to formulate business strategies.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, and Competencies)

Education:

• Minimum of 3-year tertiary degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics or  Mathematics.
• An MBA or post graduate degree is advantageous.
• Relevant analytics certifications advantageous

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of Senior Management Experience.
• Minimum 8-10 years in telecommunications industry (of which minimum 5 years in Analytics & Data Science).
• Minimum 1 years of Banking experience (Advantageous).
• Must have extensive experience in platform modernization, big data, location analytics & AI/ML projects.
• Proven track record in enabling data monetisation initiatives in large, complex organisations
• Proven track record of business improvement and strategy development.
• Experience in working for a large organisation with diverse cultures and geographies advantageous.

Skills:

• Expert in designing and delivering Data monetisation Capabilities & Solutions
• Expert in Advanced Analytics using tools and languages like but not limited to R, Python, H20, TensorFlow, SAS EG, SAS EMiner, ArcGIS, MapInfo, Anylogic, MS Azure Machine Learning Studio.
• Expert in Cellular Networks (Planning, Optimization -2G/3G/4G),
• Proficient in telecommunications functions like Consumer, CVM, Enterprise, Digital, Networks.
