    Senior Creative Copywriter

    Responsibilities

    Strategic & Creative Leadership

    • Own and evolve the group brand voice across all platforms, ensuring it remains distinctive, consistent, and impactful
    • Lead copy direction for major campaigns, promotions, and brand initiatives
    • Drive the development of powerful, insight-led creative concepts aligned to business and marketing objectives
    • Translate strategic briefs into compelling campaign ideas, messaging territories, and creative platforms
    • Lead the development of campaign messaging frameworks that guide content delivery across channels
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, marketers, and stakeholders to shape and refine concepts from ideation through to rollout
    • Act as a key creative voice, ensuring conceptual integrity and strategic alignment across all work
    • Mentor and guide junior copywriters, elevating both creative thinking and delivery standards

    Creative Concept, Ideation & Strategic Copy Development

    • Lead and actively contribute to ideation sessions, generating innovative, insight-driven concepts and creative territories
    • Develop high-level campaign narratives and messaging platforms that resonate with target audiences
    • Craft strategic, campaign-level copy that articulates brand positioning, value propositions, and promotional messaging
    • Translate complex business objectives, product offerings, and audience insights into clear, persuasive messaging strategies
    • Build cohesive storytelling frameworks and messaging hierarchies across integrated campaigns
    • Define and guide tone, voice, and messaging approaches across audiences, channels, and brands
    • Ensure all creative concepts are grounded in strong insights, customer understanding, and brand strategy

    Content Delivery & Quality Oversight

    • Responsible for the delivery of high-quality, strategically aligned copy across key marketing channels
    • Ensure consistency, clarity, and effectiveness of messaging across multiple touchpoints and campaigns
    • Ensure content outputs meet creative, strategic, and brand standards
    • Manage campaign messaging to maintain impact and alignment
    • Ensure messaging is effectively translated into channel-specific content
    • Ensure creative excellence with commercial objectives to support engagement and conversion goals
    • Ensure timely and efficient provision of content across multiple concurrent projects

    Creative Collaboration & Influence

    • Partner closely with creative, marketing, and product teams to align messaging with overall campaign and business strategy
    • Facilitate collaboration between copy, design, and other disciplines to ensure integrated and cohesive outputs
    • Present and articulate creative concepts and messaging strategies to stakeholders
    • Influence stakeholders to ensure delivery of strategically sound and creatively compelling work

    Brand Stewardship & Compliance

    • Ensure all messaging aligns with brand guidelines, tone of voice, and positioning
    • Maintain consistency and integrity of the brand voice
    • Work closely with legal and compliance teams to ensure regulatory adherence

    Performance & Continuous Improvement

    • Leverage data, audience insights, and market trends to inform and refine messaging strategies
    • Continuously assess and optimise campaign messaging to improve effectiveness
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging creative practices

    Qualifications

    • Diploma/ Degree in related field (Advantageous)
    • 5+ years’ experience as a copywriter, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role
    • Proven experience writing for digital-first brands
    • Strong portfolio showcasing campaign work, promotional copy, and brand storytelling
    • Excellent command of the English language (additional South African languages are an advantage) (Advantageous)
    • Experience in the betting, gaming, sports, or entertainment industry (Advantageous)
    • Understanding of CRM, UX writing, and conversion-focused copy (Advantageous)
    • Familiarity with SEO principles and performance marketing (Advantageous)
