Senior DevOps (Data) at City of Cape Town

Requirements

• A relevant 3-year tertiary qualification, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field
• At least 5 years’ relevant experience

We're looking for an engineer with:

• Deep, hands-on experience with automating the deployment, scaling, and management of containerized applications in a production environment.
• Expert-level proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tool.
• Strong knowledge of cloud services.
• A proven track record of building and managing robust CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid scripting skills and a passion for automation.

Key Performance Areas

• Contribute to the architectural design of data ingestion, transformation, storage, and serving solutions, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, cost-effective, and meet the requirements of analytics and AI use cases.
• Contribute to the realisation of appropriate data processing systems for use by the city data analytic & AI community
• Contribute to the smooth and continued functioning of the team’s infrastructure.
• Contribute to the establishment, implementation and adoption of guidelines, standards, best practices and governance systems and frameworks for the team
• Stay up to date with the latest advancements in devops. Proactively identify opportunities to apply new techniques and technologies to improve our capabilities.
• Contribute to the creation, maintenance, and improvement of high-quality documentation.
