National Diploma in Disaster Management or Equivalent qualification

Responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assisting with developing and reviewing the Disaster Management Plan, the Disaster Management Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Sector Plan, the Disaster Management Summer & Winter Season Contingency Plan.
Attending to and have input in local, district, provincial and national government and stakeholder meetings (disaster management advisory forums, disaster management practitioner’s forums, local task team meetings, event safety planning committee meetings and section 4 meetings).
Compiling the monthly reports on the activities of Disaster Management Centre and submission of the report to the Head: Disaster Management.
Reporting verbally and in writing about all disaster incidents that occur or are threatening to occur immediately to the Head: Disaster Management.
Visiting wards and conducting a comprehensive ward-based risk assessment covering all wards.
Assisting with monitoring and evaluation of the impact of disaster management programs within the municipal area.
Disseminating early warning messages to relevant stakeholders and community structures.
Supervising the response to disaster related incidents within stipulated turnaround time and communicates with the immediate superior on the nature, severity of the incident / disaster and resources required to control /limit the impact.
Assisting in alerting disaster management role players and stakeholders on the relief material required and directing them to where delivery is required.
Assisting with procurement of disaster relief.
Assisting in organising and arranging campaigns/ programmes to provide communities with information and advice on disaster prevention and recovery techniques.
