    Manager: Project Management Unit

    Qualifications

    Responsibilities

    • Managing, controlling and monitoring the implementation of MIG projects in the municipal area within the relevant framework.
    • Management of project quality and ensure compliance with the standard specifications.
    • Checking and certify payment certificates in respect of all MIG projects for approval.
    • Carrying out productive studies, develop and maintain project data for the evaluation and analysis of Programme achievements.

    Qualifications

    • Performing tasks associated with kerbing, channelling and paving of roads and shoulders and pavements.
    • Ensuring the availability of materials by ordering the required quantities for the execution of tasks.
    • Handling plant hire processes by hiring suitable machinery and equipment for the road works, as necessary.
    • Supervising the sweeping of roads and the replacing of manhole and catch pit covers.
    • Ensuring that staff are trained on safety procedures associated with road construction operations.
    • Ensuring that contraction is carried out according to acceptable road engineering standards to achieve safe operation of machinery and equipment & creating a safe working environment for all staff in the section.

    Clerk of Works

    Qualifications

    • Grade 12 / Matric.
    • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification

    Responsibilities

    • Check electrification projects
    • Inspect electrical systems and installations to verify compliance with approved designs, specifications, and regulatory standards.
    • Verify that all electrical materials and equipment used on the site meet required quality standards and are in line with project specifications.

    Responsibilities

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assisting with developing and reviewing the Disaster Management Plan, the Disaster Management Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Sector Plan, the Disaster Management Summer & Winter Season Contingency Plan.
    • Attending to and have input in local, district, provincial and national government and stakeholder meetings (disaster management advisory forums, disaster management practitioner’s forums, local task team meetings, event safety planning committee meetings and section 4 meetings).

    • Supervising the response to disaster related incidents within stipulated turnaround time and communicates with the immediate superior on the nature, severity of the incident / disaster and resources required to control /limit the impact.
    • Assisting in alerting disaster management role players and stakeholders on the relief material required and directing them to where delivery is required.
    • Assisting with procurement of disaster relief.
    • Assisting in organising and arranging campaigns/ programmes to provide communities with information and advice on disaster prevention and recovery techniques.

    Responsibilities

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Management of leave records and staff services :-

    • Maintaining accurate leave records for all staff members in the Waste Management Section.

    Traffic Officer

    Qualifications

    Responsibilities

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Participation in routine checks, stopping vehicles and conducting inspection of driver’s licences, vehicle registration and roadworthiness requirements and attending to specific infringement of road safety rules e.g. illegal parking etc.
    • Issuing of fines, warnings, serving of summons and executing warrants of arrests.
    • Enforcement of Municipal By – Laws.
    • Perform escort duties e.g. VIP escort, abnormal loads, funerals, sporting events, etc
    • Utilize and operate enforcement equipment, e.g. speed measuring equipment and Alco meter.
    • Provision of roadside education on traffic and related legislation such as amendments of new legislation.
    • Participation in joint operations with other law enforcement agencies e.g. SAPS.
    • Monitoring and inducing corrective action on defective traffic signals and signs as well as road defects.
    • Use of effective traffic control measures like hand signals, barricades, temporary traffic signals to communicate with drivers and pedestrians, directing, diverting, stopping and controlling the flow of traffic.
    • All powers and duties conferred upon Traffic Officers in terms of the National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996 as well as Criminal Procedure Act 51 of 1997.
