Senior Electrician at Stellenbosch Municipality

Minimum Requirements: 

• Completed recognised Trade Test as Electrician 
• Qualification in high voltage operations (switching, phasing, fault finding and safety) Valid ORHVS Certificate 
• 3-5 years post apprenticeship experience of which 2-years in Supervisory role 
• Valid Code C1 drivers’ s licence with valid PrDP.

• Ability to handle high voltage pressure testing and cable fault finding equipment

• Language Proficiency in at least two of the three official Languages of the Western Cape (English, Afrikaans and Xhosa).

Responsibilities/Duties: 

• Receiving and attending to customer complaints 
• Issuing contractors with permits working with Supervisor 
• Ensuring safety of contractors at Substations 
• Liaising with suppliers in connection with purchases of material and equipment 
• Verifying and approving time and log sheets as well as vehicle monthly e-fuel statements 
• Conducting standby duties after hours on electrical network 
• Updating switching and electrical diagrams
• Executing switching procedures on 11kV and 66kV systems 
• Attend to call outs to attend to power failures or other emergencies 
• Adhering to safety procedures 
• Finding and rectifying of faults on the system in accordance with regulations.
