Senior Engineer - Bridges at SMEC

The role

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and energized Senior Engineer - Bridges to join a leading infrastructure consultancy and contribute to the growth and development of a business with a reputation for technical excellence and strong client relationships.

Reports To

Function Manager or any other person appointed to supervise him/her from time to time.

Primary Position Purpose

• This position is responsible for providing professional services on a variety of projects within the Functional group, ranging from medium-scale projects to large multi-disciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities

With a minimum of 5 years of experience delivering design for bridge projects, the key responsibilities are:

• Ensuring that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the requirements of the client and SMEC
• Proactively collaborating with appropriate team members, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables
• Actively contributing to the commercial success of projects and the team
• Applying project management principles in carrying out assigned tasks and accomplish project deliverables to the required standard and in a timely manner

Recommended Qualifications, Skills and Experience Required

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in delivering design for bridge projects
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience
• Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent
• Professional Registration with ECSA
• The demonstrated ability to provide key technical expertise across a broad range of projects, manage risk on substantial projects, Deliver best client outcomes which have provided cost savings
• The demonstrated ability to provide advice and undertake key complex technical tasks with a high degree of independence across a broad range of small, medium and some large projects
• The demonstrated ability to effectively manage client relationships and expectations
• The demonstrated ability to provide supervision to other staff
