Senior Engineer (Scada) at eThekwini Municipality

Job Purpose:

• Applies Electrical and Electronic Engineering professional and technical principles to research, evaluate and contribute to the design and implementation strategy of Electrical Network Management System at the intermediate and high level.

Key Responsibility Areas:

• Provides comments on options and alternatives associated with the design/ implementation strategy for Network Information and Electronic Management Systems for integrated advanced and critical electrical networks.
• Controls or, executes high level interpretation of principles and techniques associated with the performance of an integrated and advanced Network Information and Electronic Management Systems within a wider area with complex arrangements
• Disseminating information on the technical and professional aspects relating to network management.
• Applies electronic engineering principles and procedures to manage the real time operating environment with a complex arrangement of hardware, software, networks and auxiliary technology associated with Network Information and Electronic Management Systems
• Controls conformance with contract terms and conditions in respect of the quality, cost and timing of deliverables associated with complex or, integrated and advanced electronic engineering interventions
• Provides information and guidance on the principles, procedures and applications associated with the technical and professional dimensions of the management of high level integrated and advanced systems.

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science (NQF Level 8) in Computer or Electronic Engineering or equivalent from a University recognized by the Council on Higher Education.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Engineer) with the Engineering Council of South Africa
• Valid motor vehicle driving license.
• 3 years post qualification experience relevant to the electricity distribution or transmission industry.

Preferred Requirements:

• 4 years post qualification experience in the SCADA or Electronic Systems Planning or Software Development or Implementation and Maintenance field.
