    Senior ER Officer

    Job Specification:

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Advise and consult on employee relations issues with HR and Line Managers for the NBL Worksites in the Coastal region and assist in supporting worksites in the Inland division from time to time if the need requires (travel required)
    • Assist with policy and procedure creation and or amendments
    • Support business to ensure that appropriate disciplinary and incapacity procedures are implemented
    • Assist in formulation of charges and approval of sanctions
    • In the absence of the ER Manager, sign off on dismissals for the Region
    • Maintain and establish relationships between trade unions and management
    • Support business in managing CCMA disputes and attend to CCMA matters (including arbitrations and collective disputes) on behalf of NBL
    • Build ER capability through means of formal training initiatives within the business and ensure line managers are well equipped to manage employee relations
    • Maintain and provide accurate ER statistics and information and prepare reports as required
    • Assist with consultation processes with unions and third parties
    • Stay abreast of relevant IR legislation and events in appropriate industry and statutory bodies and advising management on IR legislative compliance
    • Identify trends and notify management thereof and or recommend change to policy and procedures to rectify.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Experience:                                                                   

    • 5 years’ experience in a highly unionised manufacturing environment
    • 2-3 years’ experience in dealing with Temporary Employment Service providers
    • 2-3 years proven collective bargaining experience
    • FMCG experience and Retail & Warehouse an added advantage

    Qualifications:

    • Post Graduate Diploma in Labour Law
    • Computer literacy with excellent MS word, Excel and PowerPoint presentation skills
    • Previous commissioner training and experience an added advantage
