    Senior Finance Manager

    An exciting opportunity exists for a Senior Manager: Finance to join the Finance Department. This position is based in Centurion.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manage and report on the overall company financial results, steer budgets, business cases and forecasts
    • Responsible for financial statements, ensure adherence to relevant legislation and interaction with auditors and tax authorities
    • Maintain and improve policies and processes, ensuring best practice solutions are implemented in the Finance Department where appropriate and when required
    • Identify risks and opportunities with the Compliance Officer in order to highlight and manage risks proactively avoiding any adverse impact on the company
    • Engage in relevant negotiations with internal and external stakeholders (legal, suppliers, and customers) as required
    • Engage with Group Accountants and provide relevant information when required
    • To oversee and manage personal development, performance management and succession planning of team members and direct reports to ensure optimal and efficient utilisation of people resources, talent management and retention of key resources. This includes the Financial Accounting function as well as the Operational Accounts Department.
    • Promote and develop the culture of performance resulting in growth and effectiveness
    • Assist with audit queries from internal and external auditors
    • This person will be responsible for the overall management of the Financial Department and will be reporting to the CFO
    • Quarterly prepare and compile board packs for Board meetings
    • Assist with queries from internal and external customers
    • Keeping abreast with accounting principles
    • To contribute to the budget processes
    • Timely review of monthly reporting received
    • Analysis of key financial metrics to support management in making operational decisions
    • Assistance with research and resolution of relevant technical accounting issues which arise from time to time including the investigation and implementation of any new IFRS standards eg leases IFRS16, accounting for interest rate swaps and hedge accounting
    • Involvement in bid submission and tender processes
    • Responsible for the Quality Assurance of the company with two internal auditors reporting into to you.
    • Review of Vat Reconciliations

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Qualified Chartered Accountant
    • At least 5 Years’ experience in Financial Management or a similar role
    • Completed Articles
    • Preferably, in addition to the above:
    • Proficiency in English and Afrikaans is required

    TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

    Minimum Requirements:

     

    • High-level knowledge in all areas of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles
    • Excellent report writing skills
    • Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems and financial regulations
    • Ability to analyse and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statement and projections
    • Strong leader who can lead and motivate a team
    • Being able to see the bigger picture
    • Knowledge and understanding of the short-term insurance industry and its principles (preference)
    • Computer literacy with appropriate knowledge of MS Office software (Specifically MS Excel and MS Word)
