    Senior Financial Accountant

    The purpose of this role is to professionally keep track record of financial activities through accessing and analysing. financial records, tax returns, budgets, financial reports and accounting records. The Financial Accountant ensures proper and accurate documentation and reporting of financial transactions. As part of the role, the financial accountant will manage a wide range of paperwork, such as income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements. The incumbent will deal with the general ledger, either entering or supervising journal entries. Financial Accountant will also ensure the accurate representation of sensitive tax information, making financial information available to stakeholders and monitoring internal activities.

    Qualifications

    Essential Qualifications

    • An accredited NQF 7 (Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Management/Accounting
    • Qualified Chattered Accountant

    Experience & Skills

    • At least 5 years’ accounting experience post qualification preferably in the renewable

    energy sector, 3 of which must have been in the capacity of a Senior accountant

    • Knowledge of IFRS (mandatory).
    • Knowledge of the main database platforms used - (Great Plains, SAP, MS Office, etc.)
    • Used to working within a multi-cultural environment.
    • Knowledge of joint venture operations within a multinational business environment.
    • Able to create a work climate where people are empowered to take action.
    • Excellent communication skills, capability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels.
    • Ability to act independently, to prioritize, initiate, resolve and complete actions required to take

    the business forward to meet goals.

    • Interaction with construction, administration and eventually operations, maintenance, and HSE.

    and

    • Financial modelling experience is a bonus

    Language

    • Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory, i.e., the incumbent needs to have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

    IT & Systems

    • The incumbent needs to be computer literate:
    • Have a high degree of skill in business computing applications such as databases, word

    processors, spreadsheets, PowerPoint.

    • Have knowledge and application of systems like Great Plains application, Enterprise Resource

    Planning applications (SAP or equivalent).

    Key Responsibilities

    The role of a Financial Accountant is to ensure proper and accurate documentation and reporting of financial transactions as follows:

    Reporting:

    • Ensure timely and accurate reporting required by Law and stakeholders
    • Prepare reports for the Board of Directors, Lenders and Shareholders

    Tax and Accounting:

    • Responsible for the production of financial reports to management under IFRS
    • Prepare monthly management accounts
    • Audit Liaison
    • Prepare cash flow forecasts.
    • Prepare Annual Financial Statement
    • Ensure compliance with tax, legislative and statutory requirements
    • Day to day project accounting, according to applicable international accounting rules/standards (IFRS), legal contractual and other requirements.
    • Accurate and proper keeping of accounting records.
    • Verify supplier invoices with supporting documents and allocate to proper accounts.
    • Prepare and reconcile customer invoices against contractual agreements and other supporting documents.
    • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations, including liaising with bank regarding administration and maintenance of Bank accounts.
    • Prepare other monthly balance sheet account reconciliations.
    • Establish and administer appropriate procedures and computerized maintenance management processes as applicable to ensure production of valid, accurate and complete financial records.
    • Coordinate accounting activities with relevant departments including project construction and administration.
    • Assist CFO in preparing the annual budget and long-term business plan.
    • Monitor whether the company meets the budgeted milestones as speculated in project documents in terms of cash flow and balance sheet positions and report on these accordingly.
    • Preparation of statutory returns (VAT; EMP; IT14) and liaising with SARS; ensuring timeous collection of VAT refunds.
    • Preparation of Regulatory returns including preparation of the year-end financial statements; and liaising with Auditors.
    • Organize in conjunction with the CFO the yearly financial audit and other audit engagements where applicable.
    • Development, achievement and reporting of KPI’s and objectives in line with the Business Plan or project company budget.
    • Assemble payroll information for communication to the outsourced payroll administrators and review and record the payroll journal and other payroll related information

    General:

    • Compliance with internal control in all aspects
    • Accountable for all documentation and reports
    • Provide support in managing the financial, legal and administrative aspects of project agreements
    • Insurance management
    • Assist in procurement and HR/Admin function
