Lead advanced geotechnical studies with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope
Perform conceptual and detailed geotechnical engineering design
Participate in scoping requirements for proposals
Grow and lead the local geotechnical discipline in the Africa, Europe, Middle East, India and Russia region
Participate in and contribute to design reviews
Provide and/or coordinate training for resources assigned to projects
Prepare and/or review project procedures, standard specifications and design criteria
Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologists
Develop factual and interpretive geotechnical reports
Ensure relevant technical experts are involved in the design process as required and facilitate the sharing of technical expertise both across projects and across Hatch offices globally.
Scope, manage and participate in field investigations for projects
Provide specialized geotechnical advice and analytical services
Prepare engineering calculations where required
Prepare technical specifications where required
Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports
Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates
Undertake construction supervision and management dependent upon project demands
Support of site engineering teams to provide technical solutions and timely response to technical queries
Liaise with prospective clients to win work
Grow the geotechnical team sustainably based on expanding workload
Work to ensure the implementation of safety in design and integrity principles in design documentation
Maintain a strong focus on personal safety and the safety of staff
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university
Post-graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering is considered an asset
Registered as a Professional Engineer
10+ years’ experience in relevant geotechnical field
Experience in seismic design is considered an asset
Experience with working on projects in a multi-disciplinary environment
Sound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards
Strong written skills to prepare reports, proposals and other project deliverables
