    Senior ICT Support Technician ICT Department

    CORE PURPOSE OF JOB

    • To coordinate and supervise ICT support service delivery on a specific campus.
    • To provide timeous PC/Network based solutions for customer’s hardware, software and network problems and errors and advise and assist them in the implementation and use of equipment and software.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

    • To perform campus coordinator responsibilities and manage the EUS technicians.
    • To render PC software, hardware and network support for staff members.
    • To render PC software, hardware and network support in computer laboratories.
    • To arrange warranty/repairs with suppliers, manage stock and 5 year PC rollouts.
    • Provide advisory services to customers.
    • To coordinate and supervise the day to day ICT responsibilities of the campus.
    • To provide support for end users PC Software, hardware and network requirements.
    • To provide support for the computer laboratories PC software, hardware and network requirements.
    • To liaise with supplier’s on warranty and repair issues.
    • To provide System Engineer administration.
    • To advise and assist end users in the basic use of the NMMU’s internal network and standard applications.
    • To advise end users on their specific hardware and software needs.
    • To advise end users on what software and hardware meets NMMU standards.
    • To move ICT related equipment and consumables between user locations

    CORE COMPETENCIES

    • Possess good knowledge of the ICT, institutional and lab polices and procedures.
    • Possess good knowledge of current trends, legislation and acts in Information Technology.
    • Possess an in depth knowledge of computer software and hardware, as well as a good working knowledge of network infrastructure and server environment.
    • Possess strong IT technical and Server Administration skills.
    • Has confidence in her/his ability as well as willing to listen/consider other inputs.
    • Possess good problem solving skills.
    • Be capable of working under pressure and without supervision.
    • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Have good leadership skills, as well as being capable of functioning effectively as part of a team.
    • Be focused on the needs of the campuses ICT clients

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Relevant minimum M+4 qualifications (National Diploma in IT or Degree in IT field).
    • 3-5 Years relevant and / or working experience.
    • Relevant management experience will be advantage.
