Senior Java Developer

You will be developing functionality for a JEE (J2EE) based product. The work involves a portion of support and refactoring of existing code as well as new development and the addition of extra integration points. To apply, you need to have a relevant IT Degree/Diploma coupled with 2 - 3 years’ experience as a Senior Backend Developer in a multi-tiered Java application development environment.  It’s essential that you have strong knowledge of Java and a thorough understanding of SDLC processes, tools and techniques. 

Technology requirements include: 

• JEE (J2EE) server-side technologies;
• SOAP / REST Services;
• JPA / Hibernate;
• Integration experience (Web/RESTful services, JMS);
• JAXB and XML Schema;
• Maven;
• SQL and experience with a relational database (i.e. Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, DB2);
• SoapUI/Postman;
• Use of a UML tool for documentation;
• Use of source control applications (preferably GIT);
• Experience in scripting languages (i.e. JavaScript, Angular, Python/Jython) – preferable;
• Spring framework – preferable; and,
• Experience with an application server (IBM Websphere) – preferable.

Knowledge and/or experience in the following technologies will be advantageous:

• Business process/workflow layers e.g. JBPM, BPEL (Activiti);
• Rules engines (i.e. Drools);
• Design patterns (Object Oriented, SOLID, GRASP); and,
• Continuous integration tools (i.e. Jenkins, Bamboo, Docker).
