Senior Lecturer (Johannesburg Business School) (3-Year Fixed Term Contract)
You are invited to become part of the JBS journey, focusing on enabling and empowering people who want to grow and transform their future in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). Digital transformation is the integration of digital technology into all areas of business, fundamentally changing how you operate and deliver value to customers. A particular focus of the position is to examine the business implications of established and emerging digital technologies and practices in a super-diverse world.
The JBS wishes to appoint a Senior Lecturer with experience in strategy, operations and supply chain management, accounting, finance, AI technologies and its applications, related programming languages and software tools including in the following areas:
Responsibilities:
Design programmes for business school applications that contribute to the JBS vision
Teaching and supervising postgraduates’ studies on digital technologies or related fields
Conduct theoretical-conceptual and empirical research on the effects of digital transformation in a competitive and globalized world and generate high impact research papers
Develop international cooperation as well as engage with industry, and secure funding for research and development on impact of digital transformation on business, people, and society.
Drive development of industry relevant 4IR applications
Remain current on new AI techniques, methodologies, and protocols to provide training to stakeholders
Fulfil academic citizenship and leadership roles
Meaningful contributions through community engagement
Forge and maintain internal and external professional networks
Minimum requirements
Doctoral degree
Supervision, research and publications, and teaching experience on digital transformation or related topics
Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) experience (working in, or consulting with SMEs).
Recommendations:
An excellent teaching portfolio at a reputable Higher Education Institution, able to teach large groups of 50 to 150 students, preferably in the business school context.
Excellence in postgraduate research supervision and publications
Ability to develop programme outcomes and module content at DPhil, MBA, PDBA and Executive Development Levels
