Minimum requirements

• A PhD (NQF level 10) in Biochemistry.
• A minimum of three (3) years’ lecturing experience.
• Post-graduate supervision.
• At least 2 published articles in the last 2 years.
• Develop Scientific procedures, study guide and techniques used in a biochemistry Laboratory.

RECOMMENDATION / ADDED ADVANTAGE:

• Accreditation with the South African Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SASBMB).

KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

• Advanced knowledge of general biochemistry and human-related molecular biology.
• Proven competency in teaching and conducting practicals techniques such as in vitro cell culture, in vivo animal models, Next Generation Chromatograph (NGC) Flow cytometer, PCR and Western blotting, Elisa Seahorse XF Analyser.
• Teach and coordinate undergraduate modules, including Principles of Biochemistry and facilitate honours-level modules, including Advanced Molecular Biology.
• Develop, review, and update study guides, teaching materials, practical content, and assessments.
• Conduct independent and collaborative research in the fields of obesity, metabolic health, and mitochondrial dysfunction.
• Mentor postgraduate students and emerging researchers.
• And proven competency in community engagements projects.
• Good communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to function as part of the team and also in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Good time management.
