    Job description

    • Teaching of modules in indigenous knowledge systems at undergraduate level
    • Supervision of BIKS 4th year students project and MIKS students
    • Community engagement in indigenous knowledge systems
    • Active participation in the development of community-based research by adapting and designing modules for service learning
    • Funds raising
    • Research and publications

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • PhD degree specialising in indigenous knowledge systems is essential

    EXPERIENCE:

    • 2 years postgraduate supervision & a record of research output experience is essential for senior lecturer
    • 2 years functional and subject related experience: Tertiary experience, is essential

    FUNCTIONAL / TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS):

    • Ability to develop study materials, teach modules in Indigenous Knowledge Systems using indigenous pedagogies
    • Ability to engage with the holders / practitioners and communities in indigenous knowledge systems
    • Knowledge, skills, competencies of indigenous research methodologies, cosmologies, ontologies, philosophies, epistemologies and worldviews
    • Effective communication, computer skills suitable for teaching, community engagement and research dissemination
    • Ability to design, execute and publish research findings in indigenous knowledge systems

    BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

    • Ability to work in a team, ability to work under pressure
    • Leadership skills, tolerance, innovative, creative, flexible, effective, punctual
    • Ability to work and engage with the indigenous communities, indigenous knowledge holders and practitioners
    • Ability to resolve conflict, build peace, interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence
