    Senior Lecturer (P7) / Lecturer (P8) – Ref: ES10

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Lecturing and assessment of students. 
    • Perform academic administrative duties. 
    • Contribute to the research undertaken by and within the department and the faculty including research projects supervision. 
    • Liaise with industries and community and participate in community-based projects. 
    • Participate in curriculum and learning materials development. 
    • Coordination of modules. 
    • Participate in Work Integrated Learning (WIL). 
    • Perform other duties delegated by the HOD. 

     
    Minimum Requirements: 
    Senior Lecturer 

    • Master’s Degree in Surveying/ Geomatics, with evidence of ongoing work at a Doctoral level 
    • At least four (4) years of teaching experience at a university level and/or relevant industrial experience in a Civil Engineering environment. 
    • At least one peer-reviewed article in a scholarly journal 

    Lecturer

    • Master’s degree in Surveying/ Geomatics. 
    • Two (2) years of lecturing at a university level and/or relevant industrial experience in a Civil Engineering environment. 
    • Evidence of research experience 

    Recommendations:

    • Registration toward a Doctoral degree in Surveying/Geomatics will be a strong advantage. 
    • Registration with the South African Geomatics Council (SAGC). 
    • At least five (5) years of relevant academic management experience coupled with a proven track record in teaching, research (including publications in accredited journals) and community engagement. 

    Competencies:

    • Excellent communication and presentation skills. 
    • Good technical or professional knowledge and skills. 
    • Ability to work independently. 
    • Good organizational skills. 
    • Advanced computer literacy. 
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
