Senior Line controller Equity Investment at Absa Group Limited (Absa)

Job Summary
Lead the execution of Equity Investment finance strategy and finance team through supporting the Head of Financial Decision Support in the development and implementation of the Equity Investment financial management operating model and provide support to the Head: Property Investments CPF RBB to facilitate business decision making. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the Valuation Control function; with the mandate of ensuring accurate and fair valuations of equity instruments in line with IFRS and applicable valuation standards.

Job Description

• Design and management of the operational and financial control environment to ensure sound financial and accounting processes.
• Improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes and controls in line with applicable best practice and standards.
• Manage the external audit processes of portfolio legal entities (24), resolution of audit related issues, adherence to Group audit timelines and maintain professional relations with External Auditors throughout the audit engagements.
• Review of portfolio legal entities’ financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
• Performing month end procedures including, review and approval of journals, review of balance sheet substantiation and tax computations.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial information for regulatory reporting.
• Overseeing and facilitating financial planning and forecast processes (STP, MTP, RAF). Variance analysis between budget/project approvals and actual performance.
• Overseeing the independent valuation control function including performing financial modelling and investment valuations and review of team’s valuation assessments.
• Perform secretarial function for the Valuation Control Committee.
• Maintaining sound stakeholder relationships.
• Responsible for accuracy and completeness of financial standing data.

Education

• Postgraduate Degrees and Professional Qualifications: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
