    Senior Linux Engineer

    Description

    Content + Cloud are looking for a Senior Linux Engineer with a passion for providing great customer service to join the team. The role will involve providing proactive and reactive Linux services to our customers.

    A strong communicator with a flexible, positive outlook and willingness to learn will thrive in this fast paced and rewarding environment. Solid Linux Administration experience and understanding of Azure technologies is key for this role alongside a willingness to learn new technologies.

    Requirements

    • Availability during your shift hours (which may incur shift & desk rotation) if applicable

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • To be responsible for monitoring activity and ensuring that logs, storage growth, replication, archiving, back-up and recovery procedures are in place and functioning correctly

    • Monitor and manage the environment ensuring high availability is maintained at all times

    • Ensure that any issues related to HA/DR processes (Clustering, log shipping and transactional replication) are investigated and resolved

    • Assist with 2nd and 3rd line incidents and requests logged with the Linux and Azure team

    • Investigate and resolve server and platform performance issues

    • Liaise with external vendors in the planning, implementation and support of 3rd party software solutions

    • Ensure that security and permissions are managed according to best practices

    • Take an active role in improving the Linux and Azure estate

    • Ensure that the documentation set is updated and expanded where necessary

    • Perform Linux Server patching, upgrades and migrations

    • Take an active role in developing and improving event and security monitoring capability

    • Liaise, collaborate and actively contribute to Event and Security alerts on the Linux platform

    Experience and qualifications

    • Proven experience in development and production Linux Administration roles.

    • Working experience with Azure

    In-depth experience of the following technologies:

    • LVM

    • User Management / General 'guest administration'

    • Apache / nginx

    • Programming (e.g. Python, C, Bash)

    • Principles of redundant networking (e.g. high-availability, NLB etc.)

    • Principles of PAM / JIT

    • Principles of cryptography (e.g. SSL / TLS offload, certificate chaining and P

    • Azure Networking (management and provisioning of NSGs and ASGs)

    • PowerShell

    Sound exposure to the following technologies:

    • Docker

    • Elasticsearch

    • Gluster FS

    • Cassandra

    • Apache Spark

    • Distributed database (large / enterprise scale)

    • Desirable knowledge of the following technologies:

    • Promethesus

    • Grafana

    • Kubernetes

    • Kibana

    Skilled in problem resolution and management
