    Senior Manager: Business Intelligence

    About the job

    The key role of the Senior Manager: Head of Business Intelligence is to effectively manage and develop the Business Intelligence (BI) capability within AGSA centered on providing insight and aiding in business decision-making.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic inputs to the strategy of the business unit (BU) and manage the output of the centre to ensure implementation of the BU balance score card (BSC) initiatives.
    • Develop, drive and manage the Business Intelligence strategy to mitigate macro-environment indicators that impact the audit portfolio.

    Product Management:

    • Establish Business Intelligence Centre of Excellence (CoE) within AGSA
    • Define the strategy, vision and governance for the BI capability
    • Data warehouse definition and maintenance
    • Data lake definition and maintenance
    • ETL establishment, governance and maintenance
    • Establishment of self-service BI, through cube development
    • Perform a general management function for the BI Team
    • Plan projects to produce reports and perform meaningful quantitative, qualitative analysis addressing impactful business issues
    • Manage the BI development team in order to ensure effective BI tools are developed for the business
    • Establish, capacitate and lead a high performing team to deliver BI solutions and define the org structure for the capability.
    • Define, develop and take overall accountability of the data warehouse and integrity of all information loaded into it.
    • Maintain awareness of the overall BI strategy and ensure it is implemented throughout the team
    • Ensure data is transformed into the correct format for the warehouse and loaded into the warehouse accurately
    • Plan and manage team resources through scheduling and load balancing to achieve team objective, SLAs
    • Defines and track metrics related to project or program and the overall BI roadmap
    • Define and assign people and related skills to support an effective and sustainable BI program.
    • Ensure project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budget.

    Stakeholder Management:

    • Build and maintain strategic relationships/partnerships with the relevant stakeholders and or research institutions that enhance the audit risk intelligence value proposition.
    • Build and sustain value adding relationships with internal stakeholders to conduct relevant micro environmental scanning and or needs analysis that will inform relevant research projects for the BU.
    • Provide strategic support and guidance to internal stakeholders on audit risk management strategies in order to ensure alignment within portfolios and organisation.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders portfolio and contribute in delivery of audit risk related products and processes in the organisation.
    • Partner with support and business lines to understand business value that can be achieved through the use of BI, data and analytics

    People Management:

    • Implement the activities outlined on the BU People Plans.
    • Manage team performance to drive productivity.
    • Contribute to transformation/culture plans.
    • Motivate, coach and mentor staff to ensure maximum productivity and development of the staff to their full potential.
    • Participate in initiatives to attract talent.
    • Cascade vision achievement/ organisation alignment messages and commitments.
    • Allocate and manage training initiatives for optimal team performance
    • Vendor Management
    • Conduct interviews to capacitate team

    Financial management:

    • Contribute to compiling the BU budget.
    • Manage resources effectively and efficiently to comply with budget requirements.
    • Ensure that research projects are delivered within allocated budget.
    • Ensure compliance with internal processes and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with SCM in AGSA.

    Skills, Experience & Education:

    • Degree in Computer Science/IT/Informatics
    • Certification on at least 1 BI tool

    Experience:

    • A minimum of 8-10 years’ work experience, in a technology related environment
    • 5 years data analytics or business intelligence experience (Essential)
    • Knowledge of data warehousing and analytics
    • Knowledge of BI tools, concepts and architecture and decision support concepts
    • Knowledge of ETL and data analysis with focus on data integrity
    • Extensive expertise in data modelling, both logical and physical
    • Strong project management and team management skills
    • Experience working with Data Lake or unstructured data
    • Experience working with Power BI platform
    • Experience working with SQL Server(SSMS,SSIS,SSAS) platform
    • Solid understanding of data security and privacy technologies
