Senior Manager – Financial Planning & Analysis at Astron Energy (Pty) Ltd.

Job Summary 

Astron Energy is an integrated downstream crude oil refinery and refined oil products marketing business with operations across South Africa and Botswana.

Reporting directly into CFO of Astron Energy this role is to lead the team to deliver highest quality insight through financial and commercial analysis, helping the business to achieve strategic goals

• Leading the Financial Planning & Analysis team to deliver monthly and ad-hoc performance reporting
• Lead and coordinate the process for preparation of the Annual Budget and Q1 Reforecast for Business units
• Provide input into annual long-term asset valuation process
• Ensuring the business receives high quality financial support
• Provide support to Business Unit analysis of capital and commercial opportunities (in conjunction with Capital Office) to ensure that all relevant KPIs and metrics are considered within commercial case
• Support and contribute to the enhancement and implementation of Enterprise Wide  budgeting processes and systems – including re-design and roll out of future SAP Analytics Cloud and development of Actuals versus Budget performance tracking at more granular levels for business units.
• Lead the enhancement of the FP&A function through development and implementation of training plans to enhance team competencies

Professional Qualification and Certifications:

• Qualified CA with significant post qualification experience (+10 years) and experience of operating preferably in a similar role at a senior level in a large complex commercially focused business.

Experience and skillset required:

• Highly motivated, driven individual who relishes a challenge, and can contribute effectively to a high quality, fast-paced finance leadership team
• Strong commercial acumen with the gravitas and confidence to lead change in a transforming organisation
• Highly collaborative, with an ability to build strong relationships throughout the business and drive improvement in financial and operational KPIs
• Strong financial planning experience and the ability to lead a team
• Confident, effective communicator and influencer with senior stakeholders inside and outside of finance team
• Expert use of Excel, proven financial modelling skills, and an ability to use data to ‘tell a story’ to finance and non-finance personnel
• Excellent report writing skills with the ability to express financial results articulated at levels up to Executive Committee, Board, and Shareholders
• Experience of financial systems such as SAP, SAP Analytics Cloud, and other analytics tools (eg Power BI) desired
• Experience of other MS suite of applications in particular Powerpoint
