    Senior Manager: Fraud Investigations

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
    Acting as an advisor in the area of Fraud Investigation, the Senior Manager: Fraud Investigations is responsible for managing the Fraud Risk Framework in terms of fraud investigations and fraud forensics. This role provides expert guidance to the GM Forensic Services on strategic issues and input on developing and continuously improving the fraud investigation framework

    Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPA's)
    The Senior Manager: Fraud Investigations  will be accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    • Lead creation of the Fraud Investigations strategy in line with overarching divisional goals for area within Forensic Services
    • Ensure effective alignment of the Fraud Investigations strategy by means of providing direction, structure, business plans and support for Group and OpCo’s
    • Develop and drive appropriate fraud investigation frameworks, monitoring and mitigation policies, procedures and controls for internal use across the MTN OpCo’s;
    • Ensure that the investigation of fraud is done in accordance to internal standards and methodologies and with assured quality, identifying and developing enhancements that contribute to a more robust fraud investigation and forensic process;
    • Produce/compile high level report on fraud risk investigation, high profile incidents, with recommendations, guidance, trend analysis, best practices, in order to advise management on how to mitigate the risks
    • Ensure that the development of internal training materials on fraud prevention and detection is updated to address internal trends in fraud risk;
    • Develop and drive the investigative processes to ensure that potential and identified fraud is adequately probed; and recommend additional tools and methods that could be deployed in combating breaches to fraud management;
    • Maintain the Group Fraud Incident Register updated, in order to identify trends and high level incidents;
    • Oversee the integration of fraud investigation systems, controls, and processes within the fraud investigation framework;
    • Review analytics reporting on fraud incidents across the business, interpreting trends and recurrent cases, level of risk and impact of these cases aligned to the GIAFS strategy, ensuring that recommendations that will drive effectiveness of internal controls, reducing the risk of fraud across the business;
    • To provide expertise input to management for the development and enhancement of internal fraud investigation strategy and framework, aligned with best practices, which will translate in tighter and more robust controls, with a significant reduction of the risks.

    Role Dependencies

    • Active support from the General Manager: Forensic Services
    • Deep understanding of the MTN business strategy

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
    Education:

    • 4 year Bachelor of Commerce / Bachelor of Science with Post Graduate qualification, Masters Degree Advantageous
    • Professional qualification in Fraud Risk Management
    • Post graduate qualification: CA
    • CFE

    Experience:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a management position in fraud risk management, with at least 3 years in Telco/ICT and experience managing people
    • Understanding of emerging markets advantageous
    • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies advantageous
