    Senior Manager - Youth Segment.

    Responsibilities

    • The Senior Manager Youth Segment, will support the General Manager: Pricing, Planning and Global Value propositions and will be fully accountable to achieve the following objectives:

    Strategy Development and Implementation

    • Reignite brand relevance and affinity among Youth by addressing the disconnect between current offerings and evolving expectations.
    • Develop and launch youth-centric propositions across voice, data, digital, and fintech products, tailored to the diverse needs and behaviours of young people across MTN’s footprint.
    • Drive base acceleration and digital adoption, contributing directly to MTN’s commercial growth and long-term brand equity.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Conduct a comprehensive review of existing youth propositions across MTN’s operating companies, identifying gaps in pricing, features, and campaign effectiveness.
    • Support the Group and operating companies with deep understanding of Youth market dynamics and Digital trends
    • Lead the design and rollout of a simplified, sharper youth value proposition that reflects the aspirations, digital lifestyles, and cultural nuances of Africa’s youth.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate insights, product innovation, and competitive intelligence into a cohesive youth strategy.
    • Support Opco teams with strategic product bundling and pricing within the Youth segment
    • Champion youth engagement through digital channels, social platforms, and experiential marketing.

    Impact and Outcomes

    The successful candidate will:

    • Reposition MTN as the most admired and relevant brand among Africa’s Youth.
    • Deliver measurable improvements in customer acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.
    • Strengthen MTN’s leadership in digital and fintech innovation, ensuring youth are at the centre of the Group’s transformation journey.

    Governance 

    • Adhoc, operational and tactical meeting
    • Set up/ participate in adhoc and operational meetings 
    • Participate and provide input into tactical meetings
    • Report at process and functional level

    Escalations

    • Manage and resolve escalations that have impact on critical path of service delivery
    • Escalate issues that will result in significant time, scope, employee/customer or cost impacts if not resolved
    • Manage and provide solutions to issues that require formal resolution

    Performance

    • Review performance against agreed KPIs and compliance to SLAs
    • Create and monitor plan for continuous improvement
    • Regulary review and provide performance updates of Opco’s vs agreed KPIs

    Reporting

    • Report on a monthly basis to management relating to progress made within the sub-division and in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the organisation
    • Report on an ad hoc basis on specific projects as and when necessary

    Budgets 

    • Manage sub-divisional budgets in line with business objectives
    • Manage project or initiative budgets in line with business objectives

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Economics
    • Post-graduate degree 
    • MBA advantageous

    Experience:

    • 5 - 8 years of relevant work experience in a global / multinational business environment (understanding of emerging markets advantageous)
    • 5 - 8 years in Telecommunications industry 
    • 5 - 8 years of experience in a supervisory / managerial role
    • Experience in segments, developing and implementing value propositions
    • Experience in continuous improvement through the implementation of best practices
