The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for supporting the Rosslyn, South Africa site Operations organization focused on all aspects of manufacturing. This position is responsible for driving and supporting operational improvement that will increase OEE, throughput, and efficiency. The incumbent will deliver impact and drive breakthrough performance through problem solving, data analytics, and the development and implementation of projects that improve process safety, quality, sustainability, cost, and reliability. Additionally, the role drives a root cause analysis culture based on solid problem-solving platforms.
Responsibilities:
Own end-to-end manufacturing processes at the site
Support the design process, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes and systems.
Own production data integrity while also analyzing the data to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, quality, safety, and sustainability.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process-related issues while coaching and developing others in PDCA methodology
Implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
Partner with the Operations team to develop and maintain standard work instructions (SWP), process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Support new product or process introductions by collaborating with Site Engineering, SHE, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations teams.
Collaborate with maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
Identify and work on cost saving opportunities.
Experience you’ll bring:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in engineering or science - Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or other related field such as Industrial Technology
3 to 5 years’ experience in the role of a manufacturing engineer or similar experience
Proven ability to influence peers and cross-functional partners to drive teamwork and improve manufacturing capabilities
Exhibits excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
Ability to tailor communication (e.g. content, style and medium) to connect with diverse audience from local to regional management
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
Solid project management skills and experience having an ability to handle and manage projects up to medium - high complexity
Shows Integrity and Reliability, personal ownership and team player
High proficiency in English, both written and oral
Behaviours you’ll need:
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing methodologies, TPM, and Equipment Reliability strategies
High level of comfort in production and processing environments
Experience in the FMCG / CPG sector working with automated processing and packaging equipment.
